Life can be overwhelming at times.

From figuring out who you are to overcoming a personal loss sometimes you just....float.

How It Feels to Float is Helena Fox’s debut work that centers around Biz, a teenager who is grappling with: her mental health, loss of a family member, and budding sexuality. Fox’s narrative held a diversity of representation as she established a prose full of raw emotion that will surely resonate with readers.

Overall, I found this to be a wonderfully profound book. Biz was a character that readers could strongly empathize with. Altogether, How It Feels to Float is a book that will move you to tears and make you see the world through a different perspective. I’d highly recommend this to readers who enjoyed All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Be prepared to float in this stunning debut.
