Last Things

For Anders Thorson, music is the very center of his being.

Lyrics rush through his head like a collusion of sound and experiences that take control over Anders. He must always write down these words in a fevered state or else they will just fade into echoes.

Anders and his friends have become minor legends in their hometown and their musical prowess has attracted audiences from all throughout Minnesota. With high hopes of leaving his small town and making it big in the music industry after graduating high school Anders devotes himself into becoming an instrument to channel his music.

Little does he know that the woods are always watching.

While Anders would like to forget what happened in the woods, he cannot escape the price of his transaction.

The only person who can see the darkness in the woods that is slowly creeping towards Anders is Thea Malcom. As strange events start occurring, Thea does all she can to protect Anders...but the woods are full of ancient and insidious powers that will stop at nothing to claim him.

Last Things will bind you with Anders music and keep you awake alongside Thea as you try to unravel the threads of fate before it's too late. On a personal note, when I picked up this book in the evening I did so with the intention of only reading for my customary hour. However, as the story started progressing, I had to see it through to the very end. Jacqueline West is a visual author who drums out the heartbeat of Last Things in a way that translates directly into your imagination.

Ultimately, Last Things is a gripping thriller that, much like a horror movie, is filled with suspense and an air of rising trepidation that you have to see through to the until the last resonating note.

If you're looking for a thrill this April, Last Things is definitely a book for your TBR (to be read) pile!

About the Book

Last Things

by Jacqueline West Publisher: Greenwillow Release Date: May 7th 2019 Genre: Young adult, Fantasy

Synopsis:

When strange things start happening to local music idol Anders Thorson, everyone blames his number-one-fan, Thea. But is she out to hurt him? Or protect him?

High school senior Anders Thorson is unusually gifted. His band, Last Things, is legendary in their northern Minnesota hometown. With guitar skills that would amaze even if he weren’t only eighteen, Anders is the focus of head-turning admiration. And Thea Malcom, a newcomer to the insular town, is one of his admirers. Thea seems to turn up everywhere Anders goes: gigs at the local coffeehouse, guitar lessons, even in the woods near Anders’s home. When strange things start happening to Anders—including the disappearance of his beloved cat, then his sort-of girlfriend, and, somehow, his musical talent—blame immediately falls on Thea. But is she trying to hurt him? Or save him? Can he trust a girl who doesn’t seem to know the difference between dreams and reality? And how much are they both willing to compromise to get what they want?
