However, when they reach the wilders, some force beyond their shackles compels the prisoners to stay. Despite Kate's efforts, their mission ends with the loss of her lover, brother, and trust in humanity.
One year later, Kate is the head of the Rising movement which is the only force against High King Edwin who has taken Rime's throne on the grounds of deceit and malice. As the battlefield for justice looms forward and brings new players to the field, Kate continues to grow into her power.
Once called a traitor, Kate remained faithful to her kingdom until the truth of her father's actions surfaced.
As her power began to arise and her magic manifested, she grew into her role as a wilder.
Now........the kingdoms will know her as a Queen.
Author Mindee Arnett evolves the Rime Chronicles with a great degree of anticipation and jaw dropping moments. While it is a rare occasion when an author is able to make a sequel that holds par or surpasses the first installment, Arnett has created an absolutely gripping story in Shadow & Flame that will awaken a sense of adventure in readers through page turning chapters, character revelations, and a beautiful unraveling of fate's tapestry.
