Miss Meteor

Happy Monday everyone!

To start off the week, I am featuring Miss Meteor by Anna-Marie McLemore and Tehlor Kay Mejia in collaboration with Hear Our Voices Book Tours. I'm going to be linking a video where I shared my #ownvoices Reflection, integrated 15 thoughts I had while reading the book, and a reading vlog. This was the first time I created a video like this and I tried to make it all flow as organically as possible instead of having discussion specific sections.

Review

There are so many voices in our world that swell and crash against the shores of our society. On these shores we are onlookers that are perpetually looking out across to the vast sea before us. Each wave reminds us of the unknown and the shifting sands draw us closer to the waters we do not dare to cross. Sometimes we all feel isolated standing along the shore with a pent up breath we don't even know we're holding as we search for something we can't quite put a name to.

Authors like Anna-Marie McLemore and Tehlor Kay Mejia demonstrated through Miss Meteor that they are able to find the solace on the shore and from there, find the voice of a shooting star and a young woman who is trying to find her place in a small town. The authors are able to incorporate an authentic and powerful voice full of representation, diversity, and a story full of celestial heart.
