The Hand on the Wall

At Ellingham Academy, there was a bit of insanity...

In 1932 it was a school full of wonder

until it began to flounder.

Truly Devious brought murder and an unsolved mystery

until everything just became another part of history.

Many years later, Stevie Bell is on the case

picking up clues that were misplaced.

Unable to rest, Truly Devious came back from the past

and another murder left everyone aghast.

Yet Stevie was on a mission that she was determined to see to completion.

The case then led to the vanishing stair

that at first seemed to lead to nowhere.

It soon became a spirited affair

with Truly Devious lurking in the air.

Unable to rest, Stevie was put to the test..

Until....

The vanishing stair led to the hand on the wall

and the case was solved!

Or was it?

With Truly Devious, Stevie knew there was more that meets the eye

all you had to do was try...

In The Hand on the Wall, Maureen Johnson once again takes us to Ellingham Academy where the past has yet to rest, but Stevie is still on the case to put together all the loose ties to this mystery once and for all! This trilogy was an absolute page turner that I could not stop reading for an entire weekend. I loved how Johnson intertwined the narratives of the past with the present and worked small hints that led to a jaw dropping conclusion. Stevie was an absolute tour-de-force with reminiscent elements of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple that keep you on the edge of your seat. More than anything, Johnson exhibited a great command on contemporary mysteries that showcased the engrossing nature of the genre and the captivating thrill of an unsolved case.

This was such a fun, truly page-turning series with an epic finale in The Hand on the Wall that I'd absolutely recommend that you add to your shelf as soon as possible.

"She had a clue now, a point of focus. There were things in the walls. She wasn’t sure what

"Stevie began to see a line running through these things; it was almost literally visible, like a

"Tonight, nothing but the operatic whistle of the wind. Their voices were flattened by the thick coating all around them, making each word stand out."

The Hand on the Wall (Truly Devious #3)

by Maureen Johnson Publisher: HarperCollins Release Date: January 21st 2020

Genre: Young Adult, Mystery, Thriller

Synopsis:

New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson delivers the witty and pulse-pounding conclusion to the Truly Devious series as Stevie Bell solves the mystery that has haunted Ellingham Academy for over 75 years.

Ellingham Academy must be cursed. Three people are now dead. One, a victim of either a prank gone wrong or a murder. Another, dead by misadventure. And now, an accident in Burlington has claimed another life. All three in the wrong place at the wrong time. All at the exact moment of Stevie’s greatest triumph . . .

She knows who Truly Devious is. She’s solved it. The greatest case of the century.

At least, she thinks she has. With this latest tragedy, it’s hard to concentrate on the past. Not only has someone died in town, but David disappeared of his own free will and is up to something. Stevie is sure that somehow—somehow—all these things connect. The three deaths in the present. The deaths in the past. The missing Alice Ellingham and the missing David Eastman. Somewhere in this place of riddles and puzzles there must be answers.

Then another accident occurs as a massive storm heads toward Vermont. This is too much for the parents and administrators. Ellingham Academy is evacuated. Obviously, it’s time for Stevie to do something stupid. It’s time to stay on the mountain and face the storm—and a murderer.

In the tantalizing finale to the Truly Devious trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson expertly tangles her dual narrative threads and ignites an explosive end for all who’ve walked through Ellingham Academy.
