Ever since I finished reading The Seventh Sun by Lani Forbes, I absolutely could not wait to read the next installment in The Age of the Seventh Sun. Sure enough, The Jade Bones was an incredible story that picked right up from The Seventh Sun where Mayanna and Akin must recover from a heart-wrenching betrayal as they journey through the underworld where they must learn to harness magic, courage, and trust in each other to test their strength before the eyes of the gods themselves.
Meanwhile, in the world above, readers now enter Yemania's POV who is elevated from a minor character to a major force to reckon with whose forbidden love for a certain Mequitz death warrior tests the foundations of their times. The switching POV perspectives enabled readers to truly immerse themselves in author Lani Forbes Mesoamerican inspired world and experience the culture of the times. If there is something that Forbes has a mastery over it's writing cliffhanger endings and, just like in The Seventh Sun, after finishing The Jade Bones, I can't wait for the next installment of the series.
The Age of the Seventh Sun is bringing forth times of action, fiery romance, and an immersive experience that will take readers through an incredible journey that shows the rise of a new era.
