Hello everyone! October and its mild mornings, much like the leaves, continue to spiral as ceaseless time ebbs on. This October has brought unexpected change and I look forward to what the future brings.
On this lovely Tuesday, I'm collaborating with MTMC Tours to feature White Trash Warlock by David R. Slayton. It has been some time since I've found a good urban fantasy and I was, shall we say, spellbound by this #ownvoices work where the author greats ahold of readers hearts by introducing Adam Binder - a young man who has the power of Sight which enables him to see the overlap between our world and the magical realm. Because his brother, Bobby, and mother did not inherit the powers that drum in his bloodline, Bobby sent Adam to a psychiatric institute at a young age.
Years later, Adam is on the hunt for the warlock that is terrorizing the magical community and making artifacts when his estranged brother sends him a plea for help. Upon his arrival, Adam discovers Bobby's wife, Annie, has become attached by a spirit unlike Adam has ever encountered before. Using his Sight, Adam embarks on a mission to save Annie and unearth the origins of this malevolent entity. On this lone path, Adam encounters a void of magic, the silver ties of a growing bond, and comes to terms with the price he will have to pay to bring an end to an ancient evil....if it doesn't end him first.
I thoroughly enjoyed David R. Slayton's fresh narrative and world building that endears readers to Adam and his journey of reconnecting with his family and finding a greater power within him. After this epic read, I'm absolutely looking forward to the next installment in this series!

Not all magicians go to schools of magic.
Adam Binder has the Sight. It’s a power that runs in his bloodline: the ability to see beyond this world and into another, a realm of magic populated by elves, gnomes, and spirits of every kind. But for much of Adam’s life, that power has been a curse, hindering friendships, worrying his backwoods family, and fueling his abusive father’s rage.
Years after his brother, Bobby, had him committed to a psych ward, Adam is ready to come to grips with who he is, to live his life on his terms, to find love, and maybe even use his magic to do some good. Hoping to track down his missing father, Adam follows a trail of cursed artifacts to Denver, only to discover that an ancient and horrifying spirit has taken possession of Bobby’s wife.
It isn’t long before Adam becomes the spirit’s next target. To survive the confrontation, save his sister-in-law, and learn the truth about his father, Adam will have to risk bargaining with very dangerous beings … including his first love.
